Library Cards & Borrowing
Library
Cards Library cards are issued at no cost to adults and children (five years of age or older) living within the
corporate limits of the Village of Clarendon Hills. Two forms of identification showing the patron's name and Clarendon
Hills address are required at the time of application. Examples of acceptable proof of residency include: valid driver's license
or state ID, check book, utility bill, lease, or current tax bill. For children under the age of 18, a parent or guardian
must present proof of residency and sign a statement of financial responsibility.
Non-Resident
Library Cards It should be noted that not all Clarendon Hills postal addresses are within the corporate limits
of the Village of Clarendon Hills. Patrons who live in unincorporated areas and who do not pay taxes to a library may, in
accord with Illinois Statutes, purchase library service from the closest public library. The required fee covers all members
of the immediate family for the period of one year. Non-resident card holders have full library privileges including reciprocal
borrowing and access to interlibrary loan. The current fee for a Clarendon Hills non-resident card is: $210.00 Back to top
Loan Periods
A
valid library card or ID is required to be presented at time of checkout. Most Clarendon Hills Library items with the
exception of DVDs are checked out for 2 weeks. Note: The Kindle ebook reader
is available for checkout only by Clarendon Hills Library cardholders. All items that are renewable may be renewed twice
unless the item is on hold for another patron. Items may be renewed in person at the Circulation Desk or by telephone with
the patron's library card barcode. Online renewal is also available through the "My Account" feature in the SWAN Catalog. First time users will need to create an account and choose a PIN number. As a courtesy
for patrons vacationing or traveling out of town, a longer loan period of 4 weeks is available on some items. New adult
books, Kindles, DVDs, and materials designated as Special Collection or Display are not eligible for a vacation loan.
